SoundCloud Launches New Distribution Feature

SoundCloud released a new distribution tool that will allow subscribers to monetize their music.

SoundCloud CEO Kerry Trainor said in a blog post that “Only SoundCloud empowers creators with a unified platform to instantly upload and share, connect with fans in real-time and get paid for their work everywhere—both on SoundCloud and across other leading music services.” He added, “Creators can now spend less time and money jumping between different tools, and more time making music, connecting with fans and growing their careers first on SoundCloud.”

Called SoundCloud Premier, this new feature is SoundCloud’s monetization and distribution program. It’s available for SoundCloud Pro and SoundCloud Pro Unlimited users at no additional cost.

Feature still in beta version

While the feature is still in beta version, eligible creators can get paid for plays in other distribution channels. Music creators can now upload their original tracks directly on all major music services like:

  • Apple Music
  • Amazon Music
  • Spotify
  • Instagram
  • YouTube Music
  • Tencent

All from within the SoundCloud platform.

Aside from being on SoundCloud Pro and SoundCloud Pro Unlimited, there are the other requirements to be eligible for the SoundCloud Premier monetization program:

  • The creator must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Music must be original with zero copyright strikes.
  • There must be at least 1,000 monetizable track plays in the past month.

SoundCloud Premier enables music creators to manage their music directly within SoundCloud. This way, creators only need to access their SoundCloud account to share their tracks, manage their music, connect with fans, and get 100% payout (including plays outside SoundCloud).
