You signed up for a SoundCloud account but hold on, did you bother to spend any time optimizing your profile before you started uploading tracks? 1. Optimize Display Name and URL

SoundCloud lets you add, edit and change both your display name (username) and URL (profile URL). Your username should be your actual name or name of your band, without any dashes or special character. You can use both capitals and spaces in your user name, so use John Smith Band, not john-smith-band or johnsmithband. Your Profile URL should be straightforward, for example, the URL for Pigeons & Planes is: https://soundcloud.com/pigeonsandplanes.

2. Include Profile Image

Don’t you hate it when you’re viewing someones profile and they didn’t include a profile image? So what makes you think your page should be any different? Choose an image, such as your band logo or latest album cover, to upload as your profile image. SoundCloud recommends you use a square 500 x 500 image for the best results, and all images must be under 2MB.

3. Add Social Links

It’s all about promotion, promotion, promotion. SoundCloud is a social sharing site for your music. Let your fans know where they can find you online. Do you have a website or blog? Add links to them plus add links to all your social media sites.
 

4. Highlight Songs on Spotlight

Your SoundCloud profile usually shows your newest tracks on the top of the list. If you have a premium account, SoundCloud lets you highlight specific tracks to appear at the top of your profile. Spotlight lets you pin five playlists or tracks to the top of your profile page stream.
 

5. Engage Followers

Once you’ve got your profile set up, it’s time to start following other artists and labels on SoundCloud. If you follow them, they will often follow you back. Check out the SoundCloud Local or SoundClouder of the Day group to find other artists you’re interested in, and start following them and commenting on the tracks.
